Fear of the sun is a big mistake for type 1 diabetics | Natural Health ...

Sunlight and Diabetics(NaturalHealth365) Do you have a fear of the sun? This message is particularly dangerous for our children ? especially type 1 diabetics.

A new study, released on February 14, 2013, shows conclusively that type-1 diabetes (T1D) is much more common in children with low sunlight exposure than in those with high sunlight exposure, and vitamin D levels are also consistently lower among T1D children. This should come as no surprise, since research has shown that vitamin D supplementation correlates to a profound reduction in the risk of T1D.

A lack of sunlight exposure is killing our children

Finnish researchers compared diabetes rates of children who were supplemented with 2,000 IU of vitamin D daily with those who were supplemented with less than 2,000 and found that the less supplemented children had nearly five times the diabetes risk of those who received 2,000 IU per day. Those who received no supplementation had eight times the risk of T1D.

It is also interesting to note that newly-diagnosed type-1 diabetics have significantly lower serum-vitamin D levels than non-diabetics. Research on mice reinforces this concept. When the ?antidote? ? activated Vitamin D ? is administered in high doses to mice that otherwise develop the disease, it completely prevents T1D from occurring.

Vitamin D has been scientifically proven to prevent type 1 diabetes

There are other studies that demonstrate that exposure to greater quantities of sunlight correlates to a lessened risk of diabetes. Australian research shows that the incidence of T1D correlates closely with latitude; the southernmost part of the country has about three times the rate as the northernmost. We know, of course, that UVB light, which causes the production of vitamin D in the skin, is much less available the farther an area is located from the equator.

Finally, in Newfoundland Canada, an extremely strong inverse correlation exists between UVB exposure and incidence of T1D.

Approximately 80-90 percent of vitamin D production is accomplished by sunlight exposure. The ?avoid the sunlight? message promoted by the Powers of Darkness is doing immeasurable damage to human health and causing severe vitamin D deficiency in our society. The condition of D deficiency correlates to a greater risk of more than 100 diseases, including type-1 and type two diabetes.

Sunlight is the giver of all life. Isn?t it time to return to safe and healthful sunlight exposure?
