NKoreans: Musk deer meds cause failed WCup tests (AP)

FRANKFURT, Germany ? North Korea officials blamed traditional musk deer gland medicine used after a lightening strike for five positive tests for steroids at the Women's World Cup, the biggest soccer doping scandal at a major tournament in 17 years.

FIFA President Sepp Blatter said Saturday after two players were caught during the tournament this month, the world soccer governing body took the unprecedented step of testing the rest of the North Korean squad and found three more positive results.

"This is a shock," Blatter said at a news conference. "We are confronted with a very, very bad case of doping and it hurts."

A North Korean delegation told Blatter and the head of FIFA's medical committee on Saturday that the steroids were accidentally taken with traditional Chinese medicines based on the deer glands.

"The North Korean officials said they didn't use it to improve performance. They said they had a serious lightning accident with several players injured and they gave it as therapy," said Michel D'Hooghe, chief of FIFA's medical committee. "It is not systemic, because not all of the players took it. We would have found it with the others too."

The case will be taken up by FIFA's disciplinary committee. Players face a ban of up to two years.

In late June, Colombia's reserve goalkeeper Yineth Varon was provisionally suspended for failing an out-of-competition test before the World Cup. The Colombian Football Federation said she had hormonal treatment that led to a failed drug test, the first doping case in the history of the women's World Cup.

FIFA annually spends some $30 million on 35,000 doping tests. Despite the cases at the women's World Cup, "doping really is a marginal, fringe phenomenon in football," Blatter said.

The last doping case at a major event came at the men's 1994 World Cup in the United States, when Diego Maradona was kicked out after testing positive a cocktail of banned substances.

FIFA has already met with a North Korean delegation and heard arguments that the steroids were accidentally taken to treat players after a lightning strike on June 8 during a training camp in North Korea.

Defenders Song Jong Sun and Jong Pok Sim tested positive for steroids after North Korea's first two group games and were suspended for the last match. The team was eliminated in the first round after losses to the United States and Sweden and a draw with Colombia.

Blatter said the North Korean federation "wrote to us and they presented their excuses. They said that a lightning strike was responsible for this."

The names of the three other players would only be made public at a later stage, FIFA said.

FIFA investigators who discovered evidence of doping in the North Korean samples were in uncharted territory. Experts from the World Anti-Doping Agency were called in to confirm the breach of doping rules.

It was very complex," FIFA's chief medical officer Jiri Dvorak said, especially because the kind of steroids had "never before appeared and never before been determined."

The experts concluded there were "positive findings of an unknown origin," Dvorak said.

After the first two cases were discovered, doping officials went unannounced to North Korea's last match. They declared the two players provisionally suspended, and 15 minutes before the end of play, said all players would be tested.

"They were surprised but they cooperated," Dvorak said. The testing took until 3 AM and a few hours later, the whole delegation was on its way back to North Korea.

Dvorak said the team's medical officer "gave us sample that she described as classical or traditional medicine that is often used in North Korea."

After extensive testing until late Friday, "we can really say with far-reaching confidence that these steroids were the result of this so-callled Chinese traditional medicine," Dvorak said.

He added the musk gland extract "it is not part of the world of doping. It is really the first case in which this has been discovered."

The gland in question comes from musk deer living in a large swathe of Asia from Siberia to North Korea. The hairy gland is usually cut open to extract a liquid that is used for medical purposes.

"There is a whole industry linked to that to produce these medical products," D'Hooghe said.

Doping officials have been concerned about such naturally occurring substances in recent years. During the run-up to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, FIFA's concerns focused on African plants that could give players an unfair advantage by providing energy or helping to heal muscle injuries.

North Korean coach Kim Kwang Min said after their first match against the U.S. that "more than five" players were sent to the hospital. Goalkeeper Hong Myong Hui, four defenders and some of the midfielders were the players most affected, Kim said.

"The physicians actually said the players were not capable of playing in the tournament," Kim said through an interpreter.

Dvorak said the information was still sketchy.

"We saw some pictures with ambulances and saw that some players were taken from the pitch, but that is all we have," he said.

FIFA also got information from North Korea about the initial hospital treatment of the players and "this very first report did not include the traditional Chinese medicine," Dvorak said.

The World Cup ends Sunday with the final between the United States and Japan.

How To Use Power of Creative Thinking for Maximum Success | Self ...

Creative thinking is the bringing into being of something which didn?t exist before, either as a product, a procedure or a thought. You would be demonstrating creative thinking if you:

* Cook up something which has never existed before

* Devise something which exists elsewhere but you?re not aware of

* Cook up a new procedure for doing something

* Reapply a subsisting procedure or product into a new or changed market

* Formulate a fresh way of viewing something (bringing a fresh idea into existence)

* Alter the way somebody else views something

As a matter of fact, we?re all originative daily because we?re constantly altering the ideas which we hold about the world about us.

Creative thinking doesn?t have to be about developing something fresh to the world, it?s more to do with formulating something new to ourselves. Once we alter ourselves, the world alters with us, both in the way that the world is impacted by our different actions and in the different way that we go through the world.

Creative thinking may be utilized to make products, procedures and services better and it may be utilized to produce them in the first place. It?s expected that increasing your creative thinking will help you, your organization and your clients become happier through betterments in your quality and amount of output.

Creative thinking is the procedure which we utilize when we come up with a fresh notion. They are the blending of ideas which haven?t been blended before. Brainstorming is one form of originative thinking: it works by blending somebody else?s ideas with your own to produce a new one. You?re utilizing the ideas of other people as a stimulus for your own.

This creative thinking process may be accidental or deliberate. Without utilizing special strategies creative thinking does still happen, but commonly in the accidental way; like a chance happening making you consider something in a different way and you then discovering an advantageous shift. Additional changes occur slowly through pure utilization of intelligence and logical advancement.

Utilizing this accidental or logical advancement process, it frequently takes a long time for products to formulate and improve. In a quickening and competitive world this is plainly harmful.

Utilizing special strategies, deliberate creative thinking may be utilized to develop new ideas. These strategies force the blending of a wide range of thoughts to spark off fresh thoughts and procedures. Brainstorming is among these special strategies, but traditionally it begins with unoriginal ideas.

Developments of products happen much more speedily utilizing these deliberate strategies than by accident. A lot of individuals known for being originative utilize these strategies, but are not aware they?re doing so because they have not been officially trained in them. If you utilize these deliberate strategies during advanced brainstorming sessions then you too will be more originative which in turn will add to your positive mental attitude.

With practice, ongoing creative thinking (the continuous investigation, calling into question and analysis that develops through education, conditioning and self-awareness) happens all the time. Ongoing creative thinking maximizes both accidental and deliberate creative thinking. Ongoing creativeness takes time and deliberate practice to get skillful at, but it?s amazing how quickly it becomes a mental attitude, not a strategy.

The opening move to take is to learn the creative thinking strategies so that you are able to deliberately utilize them to come up with fresh ideas. You?ll then be at an immediate advantage over those who don?t understand how to utilize them. You ought to then practice the strategies to increase your skill at ongoing creative thinking as well as boost your positive mental attitude.

Rio strike theaters faster with Quadro.

See the Crysis 2 picture in our Moscow office embellished in time lapse.

Gaming is not only of kids anymore, gamers are aging.

Render and Hum with Quadro

U2 is an iconic stone band, so sufficient so that we listened about their new debate on the Dan Patrick Sports Talk Show of all places. So when they go out on the road, they wish to impress. To stir you need the most appropriate technology. For the most appropriate technology, you go to NVIDIA.

?Each laptop workstation runs on Intel Core i7 processors and NVIDIA?s Quadro 5000M graphics cards with 2GB of graphics memory. For this concert, these workstations were used not only to river live video but to conceal about 120GB of preloaded visible graphics over the live images during choosen songs.?

Break out your lighters.

Personal Computer Gaming: The Future is Now

There is an continuing ?debate? about Personal Computer Gaming vs. Console Gaming. we regard it is manufactured by the media, formed on my idea that gamers are gamers. we diversion on a laptop, a PC, a PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 and my phone. we diversion on whatever platform is fun.

But Personal Computer gaming does have a technological value over consoles. Graphics are better, 3D is improved and more plentiful, and for shooters a rodent and a set of keys are hard to beat. Eurogamer has an glorious video endorsing because the Personal Computer platform is the future. It claims BattleField 3 is going to be main in varying the gaming landscape and has Epic discussing about all the cold things you can do on a Personal Computer with tessellation, textures, and more polygons.

Another great e.g. is the modernized production on the Personal Computer chronicle of in Alice: Madness Returns , around NVIDIA PhysX technology.

?On the many simple level, PhysX allows for more practical collisions between fume and molecule effects: either that?s from the clouds blasting out from Alice?s peppers millstone gun, or from the butterflies that approximate her as she jumps and glides by the environment. Alice?s hair in specific is outstanding; the way it is animated and how it flows and moves about in the zephyr are quite splendid ? it?s maybe the many credible hair animation we?ve seen in any diversion for a long time?

They even enclosed a great split-screened video of the Personal Computer and console chronicle for you to panel of judges for yourself. They give the wave to the PC, and having NVIDIA onboard provides the most appropriate experience.

? Across all formats, there?s no skepticism that the Personal Computer chronicle is the many discriminating of the three, in any case of either or not you have access to the disdainful NVIDIA PhysX features.?

I only wish we could have the ultimate Call of Duty: Black Ops chart fill up for my Personal Computer already. Grrrr.

Best. Planetarium. Ever.

The Adler Planetarium in Chicago is the nation?s oldest planetarium. It only reopened after replacing its 40-year-old star projector. Fittingly, it right away has with the world?s many modernized digital theater.

The new network projects a seamless image opposite a 190-degree architecture at a fortitude that?s eight-times crook than your local digital cinema. At 8k x 8k, it?s the world?s highest-resolution digital drama ? alive with with 20 military-grade projectors driven by a server farmpowered by 42 NVIDIA Quadro GPUs. That means star gazers obtain more to stare at

? The Planetarium has used its new capabilities to offer audiences visualizations of stars being ripped detached by black holes, galactic collisions, and supernovae. The new digital network is moreover able of giving a sufficient wider ?virtual tour? of the universe.?

Affordable All-Rounder, Enthusiast Overclocker, Gaming Workhorse and Premium Player- A GeForce GTX card took the prize.

That creates it easy on consumers, only figure out your bill and outlay the allowance on the NVIDIA GPU that matches it. You obtain hired gun performance, in addition to slicing corner technology similar to 3D Vision, SLI, and PhysX.

3D Makes it Better

What do Batman, Duke Nukem and right away Chun-Li have in common? They are all right away existing in immersive 3D! Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition launched on July 4 and this renouned authorization from Capcom got a 3D makeover. we have played it, and can overtly say this diversion looks extraordinary in 3D. You can examine it out in the 3D Vision Photo Gallery on 3DVisionLive.com.

Game developers are moreover saying a direction in reviews; 3D Vision will speed up your score.. Take Duke Nukem Forever as an example. Eurogamer gave the console chronicle a 4.5. They increased the measure on the Personal Computer to 6, stating:

?What does astonishment on the graphics side is the inclusion of the 3D Vision technology from NVIDIA, bringing a great volume and height to the image that is really welcome.?

IGN gave the console chronicle of Resident Evil 5 a 9, and the Personal Computer chronicle a 9.3:

?However, if you do come about to have a 120Hz guard and you have the NVIDIA 3D prophesy glasses, you?re unquestionably in for a major treat. RE5 was written to entirely take value of 3D, and it doesn?t disappoint, digest Chris and Sheva in a way that provides them with the visible deception of weight and pile as they pierce by their environments instead of being prosaic 2D images onscreen.?

Tegra Thrives

Tegra 2 is creation waves in Andriod-based super phones and tablets. How good? Semiconductor of the year good. Tegra 2 was awarded Semiconductor of the Year 2011 by the many esteemed industrial journal in Japan, The Semiconductor News .

Toshiba is the ultimate super inscription to underline the NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip.

?At a time when scarcely every Android inscription on the marketplace has the same simple specs, inclusive a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel manifestation and 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 twin core processor, the Toshiba Thrive manages to mount out.?

Press similar to it.

? Of all the Android tablets we?ve seen so far, the Thrive impresses interjection to its adjustable media handling. This is the initial inscription that creates it easy to do anything other than devour entertainment and apps .?

Motorola?s new Photon 4G will moreover underline Tegra 2.

Sony is toting improved gaming for their arriving S1 and S2 tablets.

?Like the S1, the S2 is moreover PlayStation certified, and will expected make a improved gaming device?the descend shade may be used for controls. Sony skeleton to preload a few games on the device. Both gadgets underline cameras, dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processors, and the Android Honeycomb OS. ?

Rio Makers Go Quadro

To obtain their film Rio in to theaters more quickly, Blue Sky Studios introduced a horde of new collection in to their pipeline. To obtain the speed and adaptableness they needed, they incited to Quadro GPUs.

?With the GPU optimization of Roll, Blue Sky artists not only saved time, but moreover marked down the amount of storage compulsory to perspective frames, given the must be process, down-res, emanate and store stereo pairs for observation had been eliminated. ?Without Quadro, it would have been unfit for us to examination full-film-resolution HDR images in stereo in actual time,? continues Ayala..?

Interior Design, Time Lapsed

NVIDIA posted a cold time over video of a Crysis 2-themed picture we had embellished in our new Moscow office. Watch it here. Guys Rule

This has been documented on the NVIDIA blog before, as we have summarized it in one of my many gaming adventures. When it comes to gaming, aged guys rule. One reason may be perfect numbers.

?The Entertainment Software Association has expelled some engaging new census data about the demographics of video diversion players. The median gamer age is 37; 18% of video diversion players are beneath 18, 53% are 18 ? 49 years, and 29% are 50 years or older.?

We moreover made up the in style use of using figures in place of letters when typing. Take that K1DD135!

The Willows Home & Garden: balboa 2011 - family vacation

Long ago, before any of our kids were married we started going to California every year for the 4th of July. ?As the kids got older and started moving on with their lives, getting married and having kids, we decided to uphold this tradition as the one time a year we were guaranteed to all be together. ?As our numbers grow, we no longer all fit under one roof, so we seem to improvise year to year as to exactly how to execute such a large family vacation. ?In my opinion, this seemed to be our best year yet. ?With the house on the island and a rental on the peninsula, the families stay between the two places and everyone seems to settle nicely into the routine of hanging out and doing things with their individual families in the morning, whether its coffee and donuts, walks and bike rides, or little outings and excursions. ?Then we all head to "the big beach" (as the kids call it) and hang out there into the evening before dining all together at the rental and relaxing on the patio until late into the night. ?Each family takes one night to make dinner and it seems we eat like kings every night as a result. ?If you only have to make dinner one night a week, it would appear you break out your very best, dessert and all. ?It is a lovely week and I hope we can pull it off for years to come!
Here are some of the everyday highlights from the times we aren't all sitting at the beach with our toes in the sand, watching all the kids in the ocean, with a good book and a drink in hand, surrounded by the ones we love...
fresh flowers and peaches from the local farmers' market...
bonding with cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents...
impromptu patriotic parades on the front porch to an audience of 2 (everyone else wants to be in it)...
and, of course, the post-dinner (post-dessert) dance parties and concerts for our entertainment...
and we are ever-so-lucky to have two birthdays to celebrate the week of July 4th...
I hope these are memories the kids and grandkids will cherish forever... ?I know I will.

Do you have any secrets to a successful family vacation? ?Any traditions your family sticks with year after year? ?Do share! ?And stay tuned for some beach pictures to follow...

How to make perfect caesar salad | Life and style | The Guardian

The sticky issue of authenticity has reared its pedantic head before in this column. Does it matter that ragu bolognese would never have originally been served with spaghetti in its homeland, if we happen to like it like that? And if you stick a spoonful of Marmite in it, should you then call it something else (ragu ? la Burton upon Trent?).

But while the "original" ragu, if such a thing ever existed, is lost in the damp, fungi-scented mists of time, caesar salad, that emperor of the appetisers, proves a perfect test case ? because the recipe comes to us straight from the horse's mouth. Or at least, the horse's daughter, for the facts behind the creation are thus: the dish was invented in 1924 in Tijuana by a restaurateur by the name of Caesar Cardini, apparently to relieve the pressure on his kitchen caused by pleasure-seeking Yanks looking for liquid refreshment across the border in this era of prohibition ? it was prepared "tableside" by the waiters instead.

The legendary American food writer Julia Child recalled the theatre of it: "my parents were so excited, eating this famous salad that was suddenly very chic. Caesar himself was a great big old fellow who stood right in front of us to make it. I remember the turning of the salad in the bowl was very dramatic. And egg in a salad was unheard of at that point." Child obtained the recipe from Cardini's daughter, Rosa, but from the moment it became popular, it assumed a life of its own. From chicken strips to caviar, there seems no end to the indignities people are willing to put this poor dish through. In this case, is it possible to improve on the original?

Caesar's salad

The "authentic" recipe, or at least, the first one, is given by Tamasin Day-Lewis in her book, All You Can Eat (which, despite its name, is not a homage to American gluttony, more's the pity). It seems to have surprisingly few ingredients ? certainly in comparison to the gloopy bottled "Original Caesar Dressing" my parents deployed to coax lettuce down my infant self.

Cos lettuce leaves are tossed with a mixture of garlic-infused olive oil, egg, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce, and then topped with some garlicky croutons and a light grating of parmesan cheese ? and a star is born. The real thing is lighter and tangier than I'm expecting, and distinctly less savoury ? it's enjoyable, but I'm not sure if it would cause a such a sensation these days, when even Boots the Chemist sells more daring lunchtime fare.

Feeling rebellious towards all things "authentic", I move on to the most outrageous recipe I can find ? the grilled caesar salad in Alice Hart's excellent new book, Vegetarian. With a title like that, it's obvious that the grilled matter in question is not chicken, bacon, or even prawns, but the lettuce itself, which is cut in half, brushed with garlic-infused olive oil, and seared on a hot griddle pan for a couple of minutes on each side, until the outer leaves have just begun to char ? Alice is very clear that overcooked, limp lettuce is not the effect she's after here.

As a dinner party starter to stimulate conversation around the table as to the brilliance of your culinary mind in "deconstructing" the classic caesar, it's a winner ? I like the slight smokiness it imparts, and the textural contrast between the warm, tender outside and the crisp, cool middles ? but I reluctantly decide it doesn't qualify in this particular race.

Lettuce play

Day-Lewis is insistent that the lettuce should be served as whole leaves (although, she says sadly, "plenty of restaurants take no notice of that detail") ? apparently in obedience to the idea that originally the salad was designed as finger food, perhaps to save on washing up as well as preparation time. I like to get involved with my meals, but even I prefer to put a fork between me and an oily, cheesy piece of salad ? after all, something with this much raw garlic is never going to be classic seduction fare.

Caesar apparently came to a similar conclusion, because the recipe evolved, according to John Mariani's Dictionary of American Food and Drink, to call for the lettuce to be torn into bite-sized pieces: torn, mind you, rather than cut. The idea is that cut lettuce discolours more quickly, but as you need to make the salad just before serving in any case, this is entirely irrelevant ? I do think, however, that the slightly more rustic appearance, and variety of shapes and sizes, one gets from a haphazardly torn lettuce, makes it more interesting to eat. It also makes the whole preparation that bit more exciting, should you be attempting an authentic Caesar Cardini-style tableside "experience".

A question of croutons

Nigella caesar salad Nigella caesar salad. Photograph: Felicity Cloake for the Guardian

One of the special geniuses of caesar salad is the textural contrast between the juicy, salty lettuce and the crunchy croutons ? the original, as recorded by Day-Lewis, is topped with sourdough bread, cut into cubes and baked with a little garlic-infused olive oil. I'm not sure these can be improved upon ? frying them in the garlic oil instead, as the Leiths Cookery Bible recipe does, makes them too greasy, so they compete with the dressing itself.

Nigella, who complains she ate more than her fair share of the "messed-about caesar salad" during her years as a restaurant critic, nevertheless goes on to give a variation (she is too modest to claim it as an improvement) upon perfection by replacing the croutons with cubes of roast potato cooked in liberal amounts of garlicky oil. Her logic is that, for a dinner party, this saves you cooking spuds for the main course ? these can be done in advance and allowed to cool slightly. It's not a bad idea (but then when are roast potatoes ever unwelcome?) but, however crunchy you get them, they're never going to compete with a crouton in the crispness stakes ? which is the whole point with this particular salad.

Dressing up

Leiths ceasar salad Leiths ceasar salad. Photograph: Felicity Cloake for the Guardian

Lots of salads contain croutons, of course ? the thing that makes the caesar special is the dressing, which has taken on a life of its own: at one point in the 1990s you couldn't move in the condiment aisle for bottled pretenders to the throne. The original is an emulsification of egg, garlic-infused olive oil, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce ? except, because you add each ingredient to the salad individually, and then toss them together, it doesn't quite work.

Although I don't approve of the vinegar they put in (too astringent), I prefer the Leith's Cookery Bible vinaigrette-style method, whisking them all together before adding them to the salad: as the result is slightly thicker, it coats the leaves better. Everyone except Alice Hart uses a coddled, or very briefly cooked egg in their dressing, in obedience to Cardini ? this is supposed to help thicken it, but, comparing the two, I can't tell the difference, and her raw egg yolk is far less effort.

Something fishy

Of course, all these are trivial concerns compared to the real biggie: anchovies - in or out? Purists sneer at the very idea (there's even a website devoted to defending the salad against these bony invaders) maintaining if the faint fishy tang of Worcestershire sauce was enough for Caesar himself, it's enough for their refined palates.

I think such dogged insistence on authenticity is a shame: anchovies became a popular addition because their salty, intensely savoury flavour works so well in the dish, and I miss it without them: the sweet spice of Worcestershire sauce just doesn't cut the mustard. I don't like them draped whole, like so many eyebrows, across my salad though ? the flavour is too intense. Instead I like to mash them up and make them into the base of the dressing ? pure umami bliss.

Perfect caesar salad

Felicity's perfect caesar salad Felicity's perfect caesar salad. Photograph: Felicity Cloake for the Guardian

Salty, tangy and crisp, caesar salad is not a particularly refined dish, and nor was it ever intended to be; all this fussing about anchovies and torn lettuce is missing the point. Hell, if you want to be really authentic, eat it with your fingers ? just don't stint on the cheese or the oil. This is proper drinking food, prohibition-style.

Serves 4

2 cloves of garlic
150ml olive oil
4 slices of day-old white sourdough bread
2 cos lettuces, torn into rough pieces
2 anchovy fillets, rinsed
1 egg yolk
Juice of ? lemon
Large handful of finely grated parmesan

1. Crush the garlic and add to the oil. Leave to infuse for at least an hour. Preheat the oven to 200C and cut the bread into rough crouton-sized cubes. Toss with a little of the oil to coat, and then bake for about 15 minutes until golden and crisp.

2. Mash the anchovies against the bottom of your salad bowl until you have a paste, then beat in the yolk, and gradually the rest of the garlic-infused oil until you have a thickish dressing. Stir in the lemon juice and taste ? season if necessary.

3. Put the leaves into the bowl and toss well to coat. Add the cheese and toss well again. Top with the croutons and serve immediately.

Is Caesar Cardini's creation the emperor of salads, or a mere citizen of the romaine republic? Should we stick to his recipe, or are tweaks acceptable in the name of improvement ? and how far can we go before it becomes something else entirely? And lastly, anchovies ? we all agree they're essential, right?

Successfully Outsourcing Work In Your Business | Google Lead Services

When you run a small business you can often feel the need to do everything yourself.

In order to save costs you assume that it is much better to do things yourself, rather than to hire an employee. In many cases this can be true.

However, there are times when getting help in various areas of your business can be really beneficial. If you really don?t want to hire an additional employee then why not consider outsourcing?

How Outsourcing Benefits Businesses

Your business could benefit in numerous ways thanks to outsourcing services. Perhaps the main benefit is the fact that it leaves you with more time to focus on more important aspects of your business.

You can outsource tasks such as payroll which leaves you with one less hassle each month. By not having to worry about payroll, you can take the time to analyze how your business is doing and what needs to be improved. Basically, outsourcing gives you the time that you need to expand and improve your business. This in the long term will earn you more money.

Another advantage is that the person/business that you outsource your work to will be skilled in that area. They will potentially be a lot more skilled than you are. This means that they will carry out the tasks much more professionally and efficiently than you could by yourself. It can be worth paying a little extra money to get much better results.

Planning the Work Which Needs to be Outsourced

Before you agree to outsource parts of your business, make sure that you know exactly what needs to be done. Write a list of the areas that you are not currently great at. Is there one particular area that you are not excelling in?

Perhaps you really struggle with advertising? Or maybe hiring and firing is more your problem? When you have a list of the areas of your business that can be improved, it will help you to give better instructions to the remote worker and to improve the areas that actually need extra assistance.

Make Sure to Compare Different Outsourcing Services

When you look into outsourcing, you will find that there are two main choices.

Firstly there are individuals that typically work on a freelance basis. Then there are outsourcing companies. These will usually consist of a few employees who are skilled in different areas of business. One could be a skilled accountant, while another may be an expert in marketing. If you are looking to outsource a few different tasks then a company could be the best option. If you are looking for the cheapest prices then an individual freelancer may be the best choice.

No matter whether you choose an individual or a specialist business, it is important to compare your options.

Look at testimonials if you can and see whether other people recommend them. If you are looking at businesses then you may be able to find online reviews about them. These will give you a good idea of whether the company is reliable and professional.

Will You Require Long Term Outsourcing Services?

You need to consider how long you want to use the services of a remote professional. Will it just be a temporary thing? If so then a freelancer could be a great option. They will often be able to cover seasonal work when your business is busier than usual.

If you are hoping that it is a longer term arrangement then you will need to find a company who can offer you a reasonable price. If you look at different companies you should find that some offer competitive pricing for long-term clients.

Sorting Out the Legal Aspects of Outsourcing

One thing that many business owners forget to do when outsourcing their work is to ensure that they have non-disclosure agreements in place. If your job entitles handling confidential information then you need to make sure that you can trust the outsourcer.

If they do something that compromises your customer?s data then it will be you that mainly pays for that mistake. It could potentially ruin your business. Therefore you need to ensure that you make the outsourcer sign a non-disclosure agreement before any work swaps hands.

Another legal aspect of outsourcing is making sure all of the work completed belongs to you. If for example, you outsource your writing work, will you receive full copyright? Many people assume that the work will automatically belong to them once it has been completed. However, this really isn?t always the case.

You should always make sure that you are covered in case of theft or damage to your business. The consultant could make a mistake and you need to ensure that you are not held accountable for that mistake. These are the main three legal aspects of outsourcing that you really need to understand. If you don?t then it could have serious repercussions. If in doubt call in a pro.

Why Cost Isn?t the Most Important Factor

You will no doubt be looking to save as much money as you can on outsourcing. This can lead you to consider hiring really cheap services from professionals in India, the Philippines, and other far corners of the world. Before you do, it is important to understand that these professionals will not always provide you with the best quality work.

Just because someone comes from another country it doesn?t mean they won?t do a good job. In fact often they will, but sometimes things get lost in translation, so you need to be certain your outsourcer properly understands what you want from them before they start working for you.

While cost is an important factor when choosing an outsourcer to work with, it shouldn?t be the only factor you look at.

Take a look at their portfolio and the results that they have created. Look at the references and research their reputation. If they produce great quality work and a really low price then by all means, hire them instantly. However, you will often find that with outsourcing, you do get what you pay for.

Oil below $98 as investors eye US stimulus, debt (AP)

SINGAPORE ? Oil prices hovered below $98 a barrel Thursday in Asia amid speculation about a possible new round of U.S. monetary stimulus while a rating agency put the country's credit rating under review for a downgrade.

Benchmark oil for August delivery was down 27 cents to $97.78 a barrel at midday Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Crude rose 62 cents to settle at $98.05 on Wednesday.

In London, Brent crude rose 14 cents to $118.92 per barrel on the ICE Futures exchange.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said Wednesday he is considering another round of Treasury bond purchases, known as quantitative easing, in a bid to lower interest rates and spur lending and economic growth.

A previous round of quantitative easing, which began last year and ended last month, helped lead to a weaker dollar and higher oil prices, since a cheaper U.S. currency makes commodities such as crude less expensive to investors with other currencies.

Weighing on crude prices was a threat by Moody's Investors Service on Wednesday to lower the United States' credit rating, saying there is a small but rising risk that the government will default on its debt.

Moody's said it will review the U.S. government's triple-A bond rating because the White House and Congress are running out of time to raise America's $14.3 trillion borrowing limit and avoid a default.

In other Nymex trading in August contracts, heating oil was steady at $3.10 a gallon while gasoline dropped 1.3 cents at $3.10 a gallon. Natural gas futures slid 1.8 cents at $4.39 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Human Rights Watch to President Obama: 'Prosecute Former President Bush' (ContributorNetwork)

COMMENTARY | According to the Daily Caller, the advocacy group Human Rights Watch, is pressuring President Barack Obama to formally investigate and prosecute his predecessor, George W. Bush, and Dick Cheney for human rights violations during their administration, in addition to Donald Rumsfeld and George Tenet, who served at the pleasure of the administration.

"There is overwhelming evidence that the Bush administration ordered the torture and abuse of various detainees," alleges the group in a 107-page report. "There are solid grounds to investigate Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Tenet for authorizing torture and war crimes," Human Rights Watch executive director Kenneth Roth wrote in a press release. "President Obama has treated torture as an unfortunate policy choice rather than a crime." The report suggests that if the United States does not prosecute the former president, that other countries should do so under international law.

I am of two minds on this issue. Certainly I believe the Bush administration is guilty of crimes against humanity and a variety of war crimes, in addition to exceedingly bad judgment and leadership. Were I the president, none of those men would have audience at my White House. I absolutely believe that they should be investigated and tried for their crimes.

However, the Obama administration is the wrong venue for such an investigation or prosecution to occur. Indeed, it sets a dangerous precedent for incoming administrations to investigate and or prosecute former administrations for their activities. That falls on either the United States Congress, or else, in the case of worldwide prosecution, The Hague.

In the end, despite that Bush and his cronies harmed America and made poor choices for our security, our liberty and our economy, his team's crimes, other than the deception on intelligence that lead to the war in Iraq, were against other nations -- not against his own people. As to that deception, I'm not certain that members of the Congress were not complicit in the crime, and it seems that launching an investigation from inside of the United States, any way you cut it would be fraught with difficulty and paramount to asking Bill Ayers to help investigate Ted Kazinsky.

We went to war under false pretenses. For that there must be some sort of penalty. The Bush administration spun the story to create an end to justify their means. The notion that American intelligence was as mistaken as the administration claims is absurd, and the secondary notion that Saddam Hussein was, rather than harboring weapons of mass destruction, himself a weapon of mass destruction, is nothing more than a smoke screen for a crime committed against Hussein and the people of Iraq.

Hussein was tried and killed for crimes committed before the first gulf war and he was convicted ex-post facto by a government that had no legal jurisdiction in the case of Saddam Hussein. He was not subject to those laws during his tenure in government.

A common citizen in America who kills someone that they assume is an intruder, only to find that they were mistaken and that they have just killed the love of their lives, will go to prison for manslaughter. How much more then must we demand of leaders who in error send our troops to war, killing hundreds of thousands of people on the basis of "faulty intelligence"? Bush and his cronies should be prosecuted, but we're the wrong ones to do it. Send it to The Hague.
